About me
After qualifying M.B.; B.Ch. at the Witwatersrand University, I became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons at Edinburgh. Following my training as a Cardiac Surgeon with Prof Christiaan Barnard, I started specialising in Plastic Surgery. My mentor was Dr David Davies who generously showed me the heights of creative plastic and cosmetic surgery. I started private practice with Dr David Davies in 1980.
Since about 1990, I’ve concentrated on facial plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery only. This is because I wanted to gain a more focussed experience in order to deliver the best results I could.

Dr. Des was awarded the title of Adjunct Professor of Surgery in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the University of Cape Town, Faculty of Health Sciences.
